Job Title: Physicist - Radiation Oncology\nJob Location: Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital, 2400 W Friendly Ave, Greensboro, NC 27403\nShift: Day Shift, 5x8-Hour (08:00 AM - 05:00 PM), Monday - Friday\nContract Duration: 16 Weeks\nStart Date: 04/15/2025\nNumber of Positions: 1\n\nCompensation and Benefits:\n•\tWeekly Gross: $5,900.00 Per Week\n•\tOn W2(Taxable): $3,800.00 Per Week ($100/hour)\n•\tStipend (Non-Taxable): $2,100.00 Per Week\n•\tOvertime: $150/hour\n\nJob Summary:\nWe are seeking an experienced Physicist specializing in Radiation Oncology to join the Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing radiation therapy physics services in a state-of-the-art oncology department. This includes ensuring accurate radiation treatment planning and delivery for oncology patients, as well as maintaining safety protocols and assisting with the treatment planning process. First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n •\tRadiation Therapy Planning and Delivery:\no\tProvide external beam radiation therapy (Teletherapy) for oncology patients.\no\tConduct Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) planning, ensuring optimal doses and minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.\no\tUtilize Eclipse Treatment Planning System (TPS) for the development and implementation of accurate radiation plans.\no\tEnsure all procedures are conducted in adherence to radiation safety precautions and department protocols.\n\n•\tBrachytherapy:\no\tAssist with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Low Dose Rate (LDR) Brachytherapy for appropriate patients, particularly with prostate cancer treatments using Variseed LDR.\n\n•\tQuality Control and Safety:\no\tMonitor radiation safety and ensure compliance with all local and national safety standards.\no\tWork with medical and technical staff to verify that all radiation treatments meet the prescribed specifications and regulatory requirements.\no\tMaintain and calibrate treatment machines such as Varian TrueBeam, Philips BigBore, and GammaMed HDR systems.\n\n•\tCollaboration and Documentation:\no\tCollaborate with the oncology team to develop patient treatment plans and protocols.\no\tDocument patient information and treatment plans in the Aria, Epic, and Varian Eclipse systems.\no\tEnsure compliance with clinical protocols, standards, and regulatory guidelines.\n\n•\tPatient and Family Interaction:\no\tCommunicate with patients and their families regarding treatment options, processes, and safety measures in radiation therapy.\no\tEnsure the patient’s experience is compassionate and informative, providing clarity regarding each step in their care process.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n•\tExperience: \no\tMinimum 2 years of experience in Radiation Oncology in an inpatient setting, specifically with external beam radiation therapy (Teletherapy) and IMRT.\no\tExperience with radiation therapy equipment such as Varian TrueBeam, Philips BigBore, GammaMed HDR, and Variseed LDR.\n•\tCertifications:\no\tABR Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics (American Board of Radiology).\no\tBLS (Basic Life Support) – required.\n•\tSkills:\no\tFamiliarity with Eclipse Treatment Planning System (TPS) and Brachytherapy (HDR/LDR).\no\tEpic experience required for all travelers.\n•\tLicensure:\no\tMust possess valid state licensure as a Radiation Oncology Physicist in the United States. Licensure must be in hand at the time of submission.\n\nWork Schedule:\n•\tShift: Day shift, 5x8-Hour shifts (08:00 AM - 05:00 PM), Monday to Friday.\n•\tGuaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week.\n•\tStart Date: 04/15/2025.\n•\tEnd Date: 08/04/2025 (16-week assignment).\n\nHospital and Unit Information:\n•\tUnit Name: Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital, Radiation Oncology.\n•\tAverage Daily Census: 37 patients.\n•\tPatient Diagnoses: Primarily oncology patients with various cancer diagnoses.\n\nSpecial Equipment:\n•\t2x Varian TrueBeam radiation therapy units.\n•\t1x Philips BigBore CT scanner.\n•\tGammaMed HDR Brachytherapy unit.\n•\tVariseed LDR Prostate Brachytherapy.\n•\tDocumentation Systems: Aria, Epic, and Varian Eclipse treatment planning software.\n\nRequired Vaccinations:\n•\tCOVID-19 Vaccine: Required (Medical/Religious exemptions accepted).\n•\tFlu Vaccine: Required (Medical/Religious exemptions accepted).\n
