Job Overview:
Prime Star Transport LLC is seeking a Safety Manager to oversee and enforce all safety policies and compliance regulations within our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, develop safety training programs, and promote a culture of safety among drivers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations.
Conduct regular safety meetings, driver training programs, and accident prevention initiatives.
Monitor and enforce driver compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), Time Sheets or ELDs, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Maintain accurate safety records, including driver files, accident reports, and compliance documentation.
Work with the operations team to improve fleet safety, reduce violations, and enhance driver performance.
Conduct random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing per DOT requirements.
Serve as the primary contact for safety audits and regulatory inspections.
Develop strategies to reduce CSA scores and improve overall fleet compliance.
Qualifications & Skills :
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in a safety management role within the transportation/logistics industry.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations, safety compliance, and risk management.
Certifications: PEC Sandland Training, H2S, Smith System, or other relevant safety certifications (preferred).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in safety software, telematics, and compliance tracking tools.
Leadership: Strong ability to train, coach, and influence drivers and staff on safety best practices.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and policy enforcement.
