Position Summary


Assist in all aspects of course sections taught online and/or in person at the Mountain Campus. Duties include assisting teaching, grading papers and exams, conducting study sessions; as well as managing student groups in the field, driving vans, caring for equipment, and physical activities at the Mountain Campus. Some days can be long, and some duties are on some weekends.

Session 1: May 19 - June 15 (teaching online and/or in-person)
Session 2: June 16 - July 13 (teaching in-person)
Session 3: July 14 - Aug 10 (teaching in-person)

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of this job, you will not have time to do research, write a thesis, or commute frequently to town when at the Mountain Campus.

Position Minimum Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS: Preference given to graduate, or upper-level undergraduate, students at Colorado State University in the Warner College of Natural Resources who have completed NR 220 or know the material. Desirable qualifications include:
•knowledge of field sampling methods (forestry, fish/wildlife, range, watershed, human dimensions);
•plant/animal identification skills;
•experience with computers, software (e.g., Office, Canvas), working in online and in-person courses;
•experience with compasses, maps, and GPS;
•excellent written and verbal English communication skills;
•able to perform field work at elevations up to 11,500 feet above sea level;
•a valid driver's license.
•first-aid training;
•enthusiasm for teaching and learning.

Preferred Qualifications


We do not expect applicants to have all these qualifications, but applicants should be able to learn what they do not know quickly. In your application letter please comment on your qualifications for the job and identify which sessions (1st, 2nd , 3rd, all) and any preference for online vs in-person courses. Applicants that can work all sessions and modes of delivery will be preferred - although we are likely to hire some TAs for the first month (session 1) only. Being able to attend a few online organization meetings prior to summer would be desirable as well.
