Network Deployment & Installation Specialist (Field Engineer)

Position Summary

As a critical member of our project implementation team, theNetwork Deployment & Installation Specialist is responsible for the independent configuration, installation, and deployment of IT network infrastructure at client sites. This is not a plug-and-play role it requires a professional who can think critically, solve problems on the fly, and deliver clean, precise work with a deep understanding of how the equipment functions.

This hands-on field position involves setting up and integrating network racks, firewalls, switches, Cat6 cabling, access points (APs), servers, computers, and related IT hardware. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with excellent decision-making skills, ensuring seamless deployments that meet both technical requirements and client expectations.

In addition to installation, the role requires configuring systems, testing integrations, and providing training to clients on their level. A strong working knowledge of network architecture, troubleshooting, and best practices is essential. Experience with Microsoft Azure and Intune is highly recommended for supporting modern environments.

Key Responsibilities

Client-Facing Execution

• Independently install, configure, and deploy network infrastructure at client sites.
• Adapt and make informed decisions when encountering on-site challenges or unexpected issues.
• Ensure all work meets high standards for cleanliness, organization, and professional presentation.
• Deliver hands-on training and clear documentation to clients on newly deployed technologies.
• Conduct thorough testing and follow-up to ensure full functionality and client satisfaction.

Technical Implementation

• Configure firewalls, VLANs, switches, wireless networks, and security systems.
• Run, terminate, and activate network cabling with a clean and professional finish.
• Implement and support server and workstation environments, including Azure-based systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with the correct equipment.

Coordination & Documentation

• Maintain accurate project documentation, time tracking, and client records.
• Provide feedback to internal teams to improve processes and design standards.
• Participate in project planning, debriefs, and continuous technical training.
• Manage equipment inventory used in deployments and ensure proper accountability.

Qualifications

Experience

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT network installation and configuration in client-facing roles.
• Minimum 2 years direct experience installing and configuring firewalls, switches, and network racks independently.
• Proven ability to manage projects in the field with minimal supervision and adapt to real-world challenges.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting network issues and delivering solutions in dynamic environments.
• Strong background in structured cabling, including terminating and activating Cat6 cabling with professional presentation.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019) and Active Directory administration.
• Strong knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and enterprise networking.
• Experience with Azure Active Directory, Intune, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot enterprise firewalls, VLANs, and wireless networks.
• Familiarity with Hyper-V and Office 365 integration with network/security systems.
