Overview:

Fast-growing engineering firm is seeking a Field Service Engineer with strong HVAC/R technical expertise to support clients in the Bay Area. This hybrid role blends hands-on service work with customer support, system troubleshooting, and contractor oversight—primarily focused on advanced chiller systems used in healthcare and high-tech environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide remote and on-site technical support for equipment installation, system diagnostics, repairs, and commissioning
• Lead problem-solving efforts for HVAC/chiller systems, ensuring rapid resolution of service issues
• Support light inside sales efforts, including service-related quoting, proposal generation, and client follow-ups (approx. 10% of role)
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers through exceptional service and post-sale engagement
• Assist with subcontractor identification, onboarding, performance monitoring, and ongoing communication
• Improve operational workflows by contributing to technician training and field support structure
• Contribute to technical documentation and service knowledge resources
• Some weekend availability may be required for urgent client needs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC/R Engineering, or a closely related field
• Experience in HVAC/chiller systems or servicing complex systems (e.g., medical cooling systems, imaging equipment such as MRI/CT)
• Proven hands-on technical skills in system calibration, diagnostics, and mechanical/electrical repair
• Strong communication and organizational abilities, with a service-oriented mindset
• Proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, and field service management tools
