Departmental HR Partner – Editorial (Volunteer) Note: This is a remote, part-time volunteer position. Please do not apply if you are only seeking paid employment. About the Role As the Departmental HR Partner for our Editorial team , you’ll: Represent HR in weekly editorial meetings (Mondays at 11:00 AM ET) Help identify and relay HR needs such as recruitment, onboarding, or team concerns Collaborate with the central HR team to fill open roles and support volunteer success Support a positive, inclusive, and organized environment within the editorial department Coordinate with the HR Coordinator to assist with onboarding and general follow-up What We’re Looking For Some HR experience or interest in learning (students and career changers welcome!) Strong communication and note-taking skills Comfortable joining department meetings and voicing HR-related needs Collaborative and responsive, especially in a remote setting Passionate about nonprofit work and investigative journalism What You’ll Gain A front-row seat to editorial operations in a mission-driven newsroom Real-world HR experience in a media-focused nonprofit Collaboration with dedicated professionals in HR, journalism, and leadership Flexible, remote schedule (apart from required meeting) Commitment We ask for a commitment of 5–7 hours per week and a minimum of 6 months . This includes regular team meetings, occasional follow-ups, and collaboration with our HR team.
