Cybersecurity Engineer – Remote (Columbus, OH | Dallas, TX | Chicago, IL)

About the Role

We are searching for a Cybersecurity Engineer to lead efforts in securing enterprise network infrastructure for an insurance industry client. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network security controls across on-premise and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAFs), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).

Key Responsibilities

• Network Security Strategy : Design, implement, and manage network security infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Firewall & Security Controls : Deploy, upgrade, and maintain firewalls, WAFs, intrusion prevention and detection systems, DLP tools, and hybrid connectivity solutions.
• Security Hardening : Evaluate and enhance security tooling and infrastructure to prevent exploits and cyber threats.
• Security Risk Assessments : Conduct assessments of existing and new infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending remediations.
• Incident Monitoring & Compliance : Audit information systems to ensure security policy compliance and monitor security activities.
• Technical Leadership : Mentor and develop junior security team members, providing knowledge sharing and training.
• Collaboration : Work with cross-functional teams to align security solutions with business requirements and IT infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

• Public Cloud Security Experience : Hands-on experience in AWS (preferred), Azure, and/or GCP.
• Network & Security Infrastructure Expertise : Strong understanding of firewalls, WAFs, intrusion prevention and detection systems, DLP tools, and hybrid cloud security.
• Security Data & Compliance Analysis : Ability to interpret security data and identify potential compliance issues.
• Strong Communication & Problem-Solving : Must be able to clearly communicate security matters to executives, auditors, engineers, and end users.
• Independent & Proactive Work Ethic : Must be goal-oriented, organized, and motivated to stay up to date with emerging security technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of experience as an advanced system engineer or architect.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with network design, security engineering, and cloud security implementation.
• Experience with agile methodologies and practices.
