Dahl Law Group, a reputable law firm based in Sacramento, California, with a statewide reach, is expanding its Tax Strategy practice and seeking a driven, personable, and innovative CPA or Enrolled Agent to join our team. Our firm takes a relationship-based approach to legal and tax strategy, with a focus on personalized, high-quality client service.

The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and grow under the guidance of our Principal Attorney, assisting clients with tax planning, preparation, and legal tax strategies to minimize liabilities. This role offers significant learning opportunities and access to the firm’s professional development resources. With a high-value, limited-client approach, we prioritize work-life balance for our team members.

$80,000 - $110,000 + bonuses

• Meet with clients on a quarterly basis to provide estimated tax payment advice and assist in the implementation of tax strategies recommended by the firm/Principal Attorney
• Look over every tax form to ensure it is accurate and complies with tax law under the supervision of the Principal Attorney
• Minimize the client’s tax liability by using each tax deduction and credit available to them
• Examine every client’s financial records, such as their income statements and previous tax returns, to calculate their total amount of taxable income
• Tell clients about the tax process and what the deadlines are to make sure everything gets turned in on time
• Explain tax returns in depth prior to filing
• Provide guidance for future taxes and work with the Principal Attorney to help them make a plan for the upcoming year to save as much money as possible
• Communicate with tax authorities and submit the final tax return (individual, business, and trusts/estates) on the client’s behalf

• Bilingual in Spanish language (reading, writing, and speaking) is preferred, but not required
• Enrolled Agent certification or CPA license in good standing
• Assisted in the preparation of and filed at least 100+ S-corporation tax returns
• Assisted in the preparation of and filed at least 250+ individual returns
• Assisted in the preparation of and filed at least 50+ partnership tax returns
• Must have a college degree in accounting, finance, or a similar field
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Basic computer skills and capacity for using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level
• Advanced ability to comprehend federal and state tax laws and can easily navigate tax code documents for both basic and atypical returns
• At least 5 years of experience in tax preparation
• Can use standard tax software to make the filing process efficient
• Obtained a current Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) from the IRS
