General Summary The Buyer II role assumes a versatile position, overseeing both transactional tasks and strategic procurement initiatives. This involves streamlining purchase order processes, fostering supplier relationships, and actively supporting the sourcing of raw materials, finished goods, and indirect parts. The Buyer II's adeptness at bridging operational and strategic aspects enhances the overall efficiency of the procurement function. Primarily responsible for B and C level categories. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Purchase Orders a) Issues and edits purchase orders, manages reorder points, reconciles invoices with purchase orders in preparation for payment processing. b) Identifies and resolves potential purchasing problems, follows up to ensure timely and accurate product delivery. c) Optimizes freight expenses for cost and service level. 2. Customer/Operational Support a) Maintains accurate expected delivery dates of PO line items in ERP system. Escalates late deliveries to management as needed. b) Assists in responding to customer inquiries. 3. Vendor Management a) Corresponds with suppliers for quotations, maintains contact with vendors regarding current status of purchase orders. b) Plans, develops, recommends, negotiates, and administers contracts and proposals; evaluates and awards bids and proposals with final approval of the Purchasing Manager. c) Processes payment with a corporate credit card, as needed. 4. Inventory Management a) Maintains purchased goods inventory levels within target rates. b) Maintains back orders at or below target rates. c) Investigates inventory inaccuracies and works toward eliminating root causes. 5. Lean/Continuous Improvement a) Participates in lean training and events in support of company goals. b) Continuously seek improvements in the Purchasing Department and across the entire value stream. 6. Performs in a manner consistent with company Core Values and Purpose. 7. Demonstrates independent thinking and initiative on a consistent and regular basis. 8. Exercises discretion and independent judgment on significant matters, including negotiating pricing. 9. Provides excellent customer service. 10. Manages any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines. 11. Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines. 12. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times. 13. Always adheres to company safety standards, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period. 14. Follows other policies and procedures such that there are no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period. 15. Coordinate handling of regulatory and advisory notices with Quality.   1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or supply chain management preferred.
  2. At least two years of experience, five years if no degree.
  3. Strong experience with ERP systems, preferably Epicor.
  4. Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
  5. Skilled in use of computer and software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  6. Fluently speak, read, and write English.
  7. Skilled in time management and multi-tasking.
  8. Demonstrated ability to effectively speak in front of groups of co-workers and vendors.
  9. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent as well as to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, freight, and percentages. 10. Demonstrated problem solving skills. 11. Ability to work with minimal supervision. 12. Ability to learn and perform primary functions of positions within department. 13. Ability to manage stress. Must remain calm, professional and effective in stressful situations. 14. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include but are not limited to: walking; bending; pushing; pulling; sitting for extended periods of time at a desk using a computer, phone and headset; and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 25 pounds. 15. The position spends approximately 90% of time sitting at a desk and 10% standing or walking. 16. Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range. 17. Must work from the corporate office and be able to work on time on a regular basis during regular business hours. Potential for part-time remote exists. 18. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is exposed to computers and general office equipment at various times. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. May occasionally be required to work, walk, and interact in other environments such as a warehouse or production facility where the noise level is high. This position is salaried paying $54-67k annually plus 5% annual bonus potential.
