Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Bilingual (English-Spanish) Mortgage Underwriter to join our Team in the Pacific Time Zone .

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, successful working from home and have a comprehensive understanding of underwriting Mortgage Loans, including ensuring compliance with Company, Investor and regulatory standards.

Candidate shall be proficient at assessing risk, confirming accuracy for approval and determining escalations for exception to the Underwriting Manager.

 

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess mortgage applications to determine risk and eligibility for loan approval.
• Conduct thorough financial analysis, including cash flow and credit analysis, to support underwriting decisions.
• Research and collect relevant data to ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations and FNMA guidelines.
• Collaborate with loan origination and processing teams to streamline workflow and enhance customer service.

 

Education And Experience

• Must be fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal)
• Minimum of 5 years Mortgage Underwriting Experience
• 3+ years as a DE underwriter
• Experienced in FHA, VA, FNMA and FHLMC Guidelines
• Encompass Experience Required
• Analyze and review file for completeness, accuracy and that it meets all agency guidelines.
• Adept at Fraud Detection techniques
• Proficient with Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel and Power Point
• Professional written and verbal communication skills. We have a "pick up the phone" culture for rapid problem-solving.
• Ability to maintain pipeline in order to operate within company turn times. (24-48 hours)
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills, including communication of rationale behind decisions to the Loan Processor and Loan Officer.
• FHA, VA, and Conventional Certifications are required

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• 8 hour shifts with possible overtime offered
• Pacific Time Zone required

Experience:

• Mortgage underwriting: 5 years (Preferred)
• Encompass: 1 year (Preferred)
• FHA, VA, and Conventional Certifications required

Work Location:

• Fully Remote or in Phoenix office
