Position Summary

The Program Specialist EBI /Family Advocate is responsible for the implementation of a Parenting Services program aimed to assist families to develop skills and strategies to support the healthy development of their children and families. The Program Specialist works with families in their homes, conducting program orientation, intake, observations of family interaction, delivery of targeted services based on the family assessment and coaching parents to implement individualized parenting strategies and techniques. The Program Specialist implements evidence based practices following parenting curriculum. Program Specialist also serves as facilitator of group parenting classes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Programs Mission, Values and Philosophies.
  • Assist with outreach and recruitment efforts to identify eligible families for the program
  • Completes family intakes and family needs assessments and develop family service plans in conjunction with the family
  • Conducts weekly home visits to the families homes.
  • Completes family assessments to determine individualized strategies and actions plans for each family
  • Ensures each assigned familys progress and services are documented and assessed. Maintains family record, enters timely and complete case notes
  • Ensures all program records are maintained in a confidential manner and site reports are timely, complete and accurate
  • Teaches Parenting classes to assigned groups of parents/participants
  • Assist in the preparation of program reports
  • Participates in weekly supervision with program manager
  • Performs all duties in accordance with personnel policies and fiscal guidelines
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree in Social Work, Education or Psychology from an accredited school preferred. Bachelors degree required.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience working with low income, at risk families, and familiarity with evidence based intervention programs (EBI).
  • Trained on Positive Parenitng Program (Triple P) preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including at least 2 evening a week and Saturdays

OTHER SKILLS

  • Demonstrate a high degree of customer service and relationship building abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong project management, leadership, and team building skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of an extended, cross functional team.
  • Extensive travel within Cook and northern counties required. Access to reliable and insured vehicle required.
