Timmons Group is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant to join our Richmond, VA  office location. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the accounting group. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working collaboratively, and is eager to learn accounting-specific processes. The position is primarily in-office, in our Richmond headquarters. This position has the potential for cross training and growth within the accounting department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Administrative Support
    • Coordinate meetings, team events, and calendar scheduling
    • Manage incoming communications, including emails and phone calls, and ensure timely follow-up
    • Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical)
    • Prepare internal documents and reports as needed
  • Accounting Team Support
    • Assist with invoice processing, expense tracking, and data entry
    • Support reconciliation tasks and document preparation for audits
    • Help maintain financial records and assist with month-end close activities
    • Learn and apply accounting software tools and internal systems
    • Provide backup support for accounting team members during peak periods

Skills/Requirements  of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred, with a concentration in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Economics.
  • Previous experience in accounting, administrative or office support role preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Willingness to learn accounting processes and tools
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
